Hello and a happy new year :)
Today´s post is about a card I did for the class Beyond Basic Background, taught by Lydia Evans. This is my entry for class one in level two for my AECP journey.
I decided to use Lydia´s idea from lesson 4, for my card and use stencil cut out of Freezer paper. I´ve had this Freezer paper for ever and ever sitting in my stash collecting dust, but now I sure I´m going to use it more, thanks to Lydia and this class :)
So, I started with the Circle Quilt Cover die and a peace of Freezer paper. With the shiny side up, I placed the cover die on top and ran it through my big kick die cutting machine, because my beautiful mini Blossom is to small for the die.
In the lesson Lydia used a laminate machine, so I tried that, but after trying 5 times with out it sticking to my card front I got a little frustrated. And I have to admit, I was thinking of giving up and try to find new idea, but then I thought that maybe my ironing would work, so I took one sheet of regular printer paper, folded it in half, put my card front with the freezer paper stencil on top, shiny side down, and iron it... and it did stick! (doing the happy dance)
And then it was time to do the coloring. I used the Metallic Watercolor set, and I used the color Topaz. It´s a beautiful shimmery blue color.
After coloring, I used my heat gun to both dry my panel and to loosen up the wax on the freezer paper, and oh, the magic that reveals when you remove the stencil... Magic :)
After my panel is dry, I thought about how to decorate my card panel, and took a flower I had done the day before, using my Peony Dream 3D die, the Tranquility inks and some vellum, and then I decided to use vellum as well for my sentiment, witch came form Build-A-Flower Lavender set. After stamping my sentiment I taught how I could attach it to my card, and thought about my Xyron X mini sticker maker, and that worked as a charm :) But, since it was vellum, it kinda got lost on my card, so I had to lift it up again, and glue it to a white paper. To finish of my card I got out my Enamel Dots in Rock Collection to embellish.
I then did another card similar to the first card, but using the Sterling Silver metallic watercolor, Chevrons stencil, Cloudy sky from the Tranquility ink set, BAF Lavender for sentiment, Peony Dream 3D and Rose Flurries 3D die sets.
Oh, and remember the stencil that I was left with after the first card? I took that, glued that on to a card panel, and stamped a flower bouquet using the Ditsy Print and Breezy Bouquet.
Here is my video of my card making, and some pictures from card 2 and 3, I hope you like them and thanks for stopping by :)
